Mettur Dam

                            METTUR DAM

  The Mettur Dam was built in 1934. It took nine years to complete the construction. It is located at Mettur, Salem district in Tamilnadu. It is known for irrigation, power generation and tourism. It's is one of the largest dams in India and also in Tamil Nadu. This dam is located across the river Kaveri receiving inflows from Karnataka.


     A park is  located opposite to the dam where you can enjoy, relax and spend time with family. There are many species like deer, snakes, rabbit and fish, etc.

     There is a Muniyappan temple near the park, which was popular at Mettur. Many people around the district will come to this temple especially on Sunday. 

     There is also a lighthouse tower. Mettur city can be viewed from the viewpoint at a very beautiful sight. 


     You can visit and enjoy these places with family.💞

      The most beautiful place that I have visited along with my family was Ramsehwaram, which is considered to be the religious site. The view of sunrise along with it's reflection on the sea gives me great pleasure.       Ramanathaswamy temple was dedicated to Lord Shiva and there was 22 theertham which I does not expected. It was paradise for me. After visiting the temple, we went to Dhanushkodi which was surrounded by Gulf of Mannar and Bay of Bengal. It was a lovely place that seems to be, the sea was connected to sky and it was full of blue. People from different places visited these sites.       It was picturesque with thatched cottages on the way near old railway station. I had a joyful experience and I love spending time in these idyllic settings.       Everyone can visit and enjoy these beautiful sites.
